Favorite Scrap Sewing Project: Baby's Soft Book of Colors

I want to feature this soft book of colors to kick off the month.  This was my favorite gift I made last year, and I loved making it so much that I had to make more.  This is really a fun gift to make!

This is perfect for any baby on your list, from the not yet born to the toddler set.  I promise you will love making this and the book will be well loved.

This tutorial is well done and made by a brilliantly talented mama named Jazmin.  Here is her tutorial at Homegrown Happy.

Here is the first one I made:

I made the back cover brown for my son.  I have made a pink back page when giving this to a girl.

Like I said, this was definitely the best gift I had yet made and I know you will be glad if you make one too.
I promise you will enjoy it!

I would love to win one of these cute books from you. What a great way to teach color to children. We have 8 grandchildren so far and my son still has not had any children but wants to someday. He's 25, unmarried, and served in the military right now. Someday. :) Also, I like to brag just a little, we had three little girls born into our family in '09. Woo-hoo!!! So we have lots of little children to look at a book like that.

AND, I want to sew so bad. My friend took me to sewing shops to check out sewing machines. Is making a book like this easy? Would it be a great way to play with fabrics and quilt making for a beginner?

See ya.

jeriann, i am sorry if my post was unclear; this book is not one of the gifts I am giving away in July; I wanted to show it to ya'll so you can make one too. The tutorial is at Homegrown Happy, and linked in the post. I will be giving away a sewing/ needlebook (i plan to show that tutorial later today), which was kindof inspired by this idea. You will love that, too...

There is a page on this blog about Janome sewing machines, which I highly recommend for beginning (and intermediate, and advanced)home sewists. You can get great deals on Janome machines with free shipping at Amazon. I am an Amazon affiliate, and if you enter the Amazon site from links here on this blog, then you still get the same great deal from Amazon, and it helps me out a little bit, too. There will be more about these machines on the Janome Sewing Machine page later, for now I have written a review on one deluxe machine that is a particularly nice deal right now; but all of Janome's sewing machines are great, and definitely what you want to start out with. Read the "about this blog" page to find out more about my experiences with inferior sewing machines.

This quilt book would be an awesome first project for learning about and doing patchwork. The "crazy quilt" style is very forgiving; you don't have to line seams up straight at all. Jazmin has a video showing you how to do this within her tutorial for making this book.

I would also like to get her permission to take orders for these if anyone would like me to make these for special kids on your list. This book was her idea and so I want to ask her about this first....
